The beautiful thing about living here is Arizona’s proximity to so many other awesome places. 5 hours to San Diego, L.A., Mexico, skiing in the White Mountains and of course, Las Vegas. We don’t really consider ourselves “Vegas people”. I’ve lived here almost 30 years and just went there for the first time last April for a birthday celebration. And again this month to celebrate my husband’s 50th.
We stayed at Steve Wynn’s property ENCORE this time, and were really impressed. The room was beautifully appointed and we enjoyed a massage at the ENCORE SPA which was heavenly. We’ve never had a bad meal in Las Vegas either. Birthday dinner was at SINATRA at the ENCORE. I had Veal Parmigiana that was frenched and pounded thin, then served on fresh tomato sauce and topped with fresh house-made cheese. It was the size of a pizza. Usually I don’t leave food on my plate but really had to this time.
And the shows! We enjoyed LE REVE for a second time, and it was new and different and just as spectacular. The JERSEY BOYS was the piece de resistance. Entertaining to the nth degree. I highly recommend either of these shows to top off a day of shopping.
But there is one drawback. Vegas ain’t cheap. You go there and eat, drink, shop and – well- put a little out there on the tables. It can be a costly little jaunt. When you come home, your money stays in Vegas.
